'85 Beta instrument panel wiring
« on: September 01, 2026, 07:03:42 PM »
Does anyone know of a schematic identifying the 22 electric feeds on the rear of the instrument panel? I can figure out most of the  live feeds to the lamps but the earths are confusing. I want to check that all bulbs are getting a feed before replacing the panel.

Without adding colours to the wires there are three connectors on the gauges. Two on the rev counter and one on the speedo.

The horizontal one on the rev counter has 6 wires, left to right,
Rev Counter signal
Hazard
Main Beam
Sidelight
Oil Temp
Oil pressure

The vertical one on the rev counter has 8 wires, top to bottom
Low oil pressure light
Left indicator
Right indicator
Earth
Overheat warning
Water Temperature
Battery Charging
Heated Rear Window

The vertical one on the speedo has 8 wires, top to bottom
Earth
Front Fogs (if fitted)
Rear Fogs
Low Fuel
Fuel Level
Low Brake Fluid
Gearbox
Handbrake

I see only two earths on the gauge cluster if that helps!

Power for all the gauges and warning lights appears to come in via the Battery Warning light (Alternator charging)

And if I've got anything wrong please feel free to contradict/correct me as I'm in the process of rewiring the entire car!

Have you looked in the downloads section for car wiring diagrams?

Peter, I can't find the info. I need in the wiring diagrams.
Guy, that info. is exactly what I need. Initial checks with a 12v supply show me that all bulbs are operational.
Another fault I have is a non functioning rev. counter. Is there a way of testing it while I have access to the connections.
Many thanks for this info.
David.

Hi

This section is taken from the neromoto diagram and has all the instrument connections and wire colours, is that what you are after?

That's very useful also Peter, I saw the schematic but didn't  enlarge it as you have done. What app. are you using. When I try to print off the full diagram the nomenclature at the bottom of the page is superimposed with the other diagram and behind the Lancia B logo. Any ideas?

Hi

I downloaded and viewed it on an iPad. Then expanded it to view the section and then took a screen shot of the expanded section.

Has anyone experience of checking the operation of the tachometer while the assembly is out of the dash? There are 3 connections on the rear indicated on the drawing as +,-,and c.Is the signal from the coil 12v or does it vary? Any thoughts appreciated.

Sorry never had to check the tachometer, but the connection from the coil is going to be a square wave at 4x the rpm I guess the other two are to supply power.

Not checked on the bench but the signal on a 1982 car comes from the Bosch ignition module. I suspect earlier cars are coil driven.

Peter

Sorry that will most likely be 1x rpm? not 4x.
